Hearts Desire

Through Fire and Rain

Sometimes

Hearts Desire

Outside under the neon lights
Where strangers meet and exchange alibis
There's a lady who waits alone under the moonlight

She watches from an open window frame
Listening to the heartbeat of the city
Night descends - alone but never lonely at night

Sometimes love can hurt so bad
She doesn't need the pressure
Sometimes you know how a feeling can just fade away

Tonight she's givin' in
Giving into her hearts desire
She's just living in this midnight fantasy

She's had enough of being told what to do
Too many lies she believed to be true
Now she's looking out for herself and no one else
And she's just looking for a thrill tonight
Instead of living life for someone else
She knows what she wants

Sometimes the lies that pass for love
They don't make any sense - no
You've thrown away your freedom now there's nothing to say

Tonight she's givin' in
Giving into her hearts desire
She's just living in this midnight fantasy

Tonight she's givin' in
Giving into her hearts desire
She's just living in this midnight fantasy

Tonight she's givin' in
Giving into her hearts desire
She's just living in this midnight fantasy

Tonight she's givin' in
Giving into her hearts desire
She's just living in this midnight fantasy

Through Fire and Rain

There's a cold wind blowing through my heart tonight
I lie awake in a cold sweat thinking of you
Alone with my memories of the times we shared
And a fading photograph slowly falls to the floor

A warm wind dries the tears from my face
I walk alone at midnight thinking of you
I wonder where you are tonight - are you okay?
Are you alone? Do you have someone to talk to?

Please believe I never meant to cause you pain
I hope that someday when the anger slowly fades
I will be your friend through fire and rain
I will be there through fire and rain

There's a light that shines within my heart tonight
A golden ray of hope that someday we will be all right
We've both been wrong - why can't we leave the pain behind?
Start living in the present, just leave the past behind

The way we live our lives is never easy
We can't understand the joy
Unless we sometimes face the pain
In many ways we're two of a kind
Believe me
We can fight for what we want
Or we can throw it all away

Sometimes

I dreamed of you again last night
I felt like you were right there beside me
Holding me close like you used to do
I was happy within your memory

I thought about you once again yesterday
I could almost hear your laughter
And a fading memory of your smile
The way your heart reached out to mine

Sometimes
it's not so easy to live the way we live
Sometimes I'm so unsure
- is there anything left to give?
Sometimes
I really wonder what might have been
Sometimes
I know that things are just not meant to be

I dreamed of you again last night
Dressed in white in the summer sun
Carefree and wild like we used to be
You took me so far away back in time

I thought about you once again yesterday
You know I wish only the best for you
And though I know we can't be together
I hope you'll remember me with a fond memory

Sometimes
it's not so easy to live the way we live
Sometimes I'm so unsure
- is there anything left to give?
Sometimes
I really wonder what might have been
Sometimes
I know that things are just not meant to be
